Description |
Danish: Maleriet var oprindeligt i den augustenborgske slægts eje. Efter 1850 blev augustenborgernes godser konfiskeret af den danske stat, og slægten måtte drage i landflygtighed med sit indbo til dens schlesiske ejendomme. Ved Ernst Günthers død i 1921, uddøde den augustenborgske mandslinje, og godset og indboet tilfaldt flere forskellige kvindelige medlemmer af slægten, der, som følge af den almindelige fattigdom i Tyskland i kølvandet på 1. verdenskrigs afslutning, besluttede at realisere effekterne. Samlingen, som bestod af talrige kunstværker og genstande med tilknytning til det danske kongehus, blev solgt enkeltvis og i mindre portioner.
