Australians soldiers dragging an artillery piece into position at Anzac during the Battle of Gallipoli, 1915.
Photo from The War Illustrated, 19 June 1915. Caption reads:
- The first gun to be landed by the Allies in Gallipoli. Men of the Australian Contingent pulling together with a will over the rough ground of the sultry Peninsula. The undulating nature of the ground of Gallipoli makes the transport of guns a matter of immense difficulty, especially when Turk and Hun are continually sniping from concealed positions.
