Description
Nederlands: Noemt zich: translateur/geneesheer. Hij studeert in Japan geneeskunde, westerse studies en Nederlands. In 1862 reist hij als arts en vertaler mee met de Takeuchi-missie naar Europa. Matsuki gaat later voor de Japanse regering werken, en verandert zijn naam naar Terashima Munenori. In 1873 wordt hij minister van buitenlandse zaken.
English: Matsuki Koan called himself translator/physician. He studied medicine, Western civilization and Dutch in Japan. In 1862 he accompanied the Takeuchi delegation to Europe as physician/translator. Later on, Matsuki was to work for the Japanese government and assumed the name of Terashima Munenori. In 1873, he became Minister for Foreign Affairs.
