[edit]DescriptionNikko KomainuShinkyusha M4409.jpg |
The komainu at left stands at the top of the staircase that leads from the torii up to the level with the drum and bell towers and Yakushi temple. Below the staircase is the sacred stable, shinkyusha, with carvings of monkeys above the level of the doors. People in historic period costumes are gathering for the autumn festival in October. Compare this photo to the historic photo. I took the photo in 2006 and contribute it to the public domain. However, people and institutions may retain rights to images in it. |
