Derived from this image. The inscription attached to Lough Derg reads:

Purgatorium S. Patritij, huius
Diui precibus hoc loco à Deo
constitutum. Syl. Gyraldus.

This can be translated to: The Purgatory of Saint Patricius, whose prayers in this place prompted its establishment by God, according to Sylvius Gyraldus. (The inscription and the associated translation were taken from this page at Ortelius Maps.)
