Description |
English: Portrait of a musician by a Cremonese painter. The sitter has traditionally, but incorrectly, been identified as Antonio Stradivari. Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643) and Gasparo da Salò (1540-1609) have been suggested. He holds a Brescian viola da gamba, and there is a violin/viola with a bow in the background. |
