(b. 1594, Les Andelys, d. 1665, Roma) The Rape of the Sabine Women 1637-38 Oil on canvas, 159 x 206 cm Musée du Louvre, Paris This is the second version of the subject by Poussin the first being in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The principal figures are similar to those in the first version, however, the architectural background is more developed.
