Italiano: "Il dipinto fa parte di una serie di ritratti di uomini e donne illustri. La serie si presenta omogenea sia nei caratteri iconografici che stilistici. Anche le cornici entro cui sono racchiusi risultano identiche. Si potrebbe ipotizzare che quando, nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo, fu edificato il nuovo palazzo comunale si pensò anche all'ornamentazione. Alla scelta di questo soggetto iconografico, di gusto ancora rinascimentale, non è estranea l'esistenza dell'opera dello storico corinaldese Vincenzo Maria Cimarelli, Istorie dello Stato di Urbino (1642), il cui terzo libro è dedicato alla storia di Corinaldo con un trattato sugli uomini illustri, che sembra aver fornito materia sia per i soggetti da rappresentare, che per le iscrizioni dipinte sotto di questi" [1]
