Notes This drawing of a scene from the Acts of the Apostles exemplifes Quellinus' masterful handling of black chalk. In the foreground we see distinctive outlines filled with robust hatching (closely spaced parallel strokes). Towards the back of the composition, the lines become thinner and more delicate, which is how the artist achieved a sensation of depth.
