Deutsch: Auftraggeber: Bankier Gaspare di Zanobi del Lama für seine Grabkapelle an der Fassadeninnenseite in Santa Maria Novella. Sie wurde bekrönt mit einer Lünettendarstellung der Geburt Christi, heute über dem Eingangsportal. Als das Patronat in andere Hände ging wurde das Bild durch die Verkündigung von Santi di Tito ersetzt.
The painting was commissioned by banker Gaspare di Zanobi del Lama for his family chapel at the counter facade of Santa Maria Novella. It was surmounted by a lunette depicting the nativity (now above the central entrance door).
