Description
Español: La obra representa a Santo Domingo de Silos entronizado como obispo, y es la tabla central del retablo de Santo Domingo de Silos de la parroquia de Daroca, en la provincia de Zaragoza. El santo aparece vestido de obispo y sentado en un trono gótico decorado con estatuas policromadas de las siete virtudes, las teologales: Fe, Esperanza y Caridad y las cardinales: Prudencia, Justicia, Fortaleza y Templanza. Destaca especialmente el extremo realismo del rostro de Santo Domingo y la fuerza de su mirada, características propias del arte flamenco que, en este caso, no son verídicas sino ideales, ya que fue en el siglo XI cuando el monje Domingo fundó, cerca de Burgos, el Monasterio de Silos, donde vivió. Este realismo contrasta con el abundante uso del oro que, como se había especificado en el contrato, no aparece embutido, como es habitual en Aragón.
