Notes Beschreibung des Bildes von Theodor Fontane: „In der Mitte des Bildes befindet sich eine weiße, hochbusige Schönheit mit pechschwarzem Haar, welches von Perlenschnüren durchzogen ist; in der Linken hält sie eine Art Zauberlaterne, in der Rechten einen kleinen Ölkrug. Allerhand pausbäckige Genien halten Tafelgerät und Kannen empor, andere entschweben mit leeren Schüsseln, noch andre kommen mit Teegeschirr herbei und gießen den Tee in kleine Schälchen. Diese Szenen füllen zwei Drittel des Bildes. Links in der Ecke hält Apoll mit seinen Sonnenrossen, vor ihm her schwebt bereits Aurora, das Haupt des Sonnengottes selbst aber strahlt nicht, sondern ist noch von einer dunklen Scheibe umhüllt.“ In: Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg.
