Object history “Woodlands peoples first made large carrying bags for utilitarian purposes, such as for hunting or traveling. Decorative beadwork and panels were later added to the bags as accessories to formal clothing for various ceremonies or societies, such as the Midewewin Society, a group responsible for preserving the health and traditional learning of the Ojibwa people. This particular bag was probably made for a child.” The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, IMCPL Digital Collections
