Symbols
[edit]Prominently featured as the background is the maple leaf in the official pantone colour; it is the most predominate Canadian symbol that dates back to the early 18th century.(ref1)
The Crown symbolizes the Monarchy of Canada and contains cross pattées and fleurs-de-lis.(ref1)
The sports of Ice hockey and lacrosse are official symbols as are the animals the beaver and Canadian horse.(ref1)
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Parliament building are defacto symbols,(ref1) as are the Canadian Rockies, and the indigenous symbols of the totem pole and Inuksuk.(ref2)
Material items - Maple syrup, tuques and canoes are defined as uniquely Canadian.(ref3)
A six pointed stylized hexagonal snowflake as used for the Order of Canada that has come to symbolize Canadians northern heritage and diversity.(ref4)
