DescriptionWandering-Jew.jpg | According to the legend of the Wandering Jew, after Jesus picked up his cross and started toward Calvary, a Jew hit him on the back and told him to walk faster. For this evil deed, God condemned the Jew to wander the earth alone until Jesus returns. Over the centuries numerous people have reported that they saw this Jew wandering past in the distance. Unfortunately this legend has been used in some anti-Jewish propaganda campaigns, and this unflattering depiction of the wanderer is an example of this. It was drawn by the nineteenth-century American cartoonist Joseph Keppler. This is a detail of the original work, now in the public domain, which I created for use on the website http://www.other-voices.net/weird-beliefs.html and now want to make available to others. | ||||||||||||||||||||
