Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde 1731 von Adolf Friedrich III., Herzog zu Mecklenburg [-Strelitz] genehmigt und unter der Nr. 91 der Wappenrolle der Wappenrolle des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern eingetragen. Im Jahre 2003 wurde es von Heinz Kippnick neu gezeichnet. Der vordere Teil entstammt dem Wappen der früheren Herrschaft Stargard und der hintere Teil dem Wappen der Herrschaft Werle, von dem auch das Mecklenburger Landeswappen abgeleitet ist.
English: The arms were granted in 1731. The part dexter was derived from the arms of the Lords of Stargard and the part sinister from Lords of Werle, from which the arms of Mecklenburg state is derived too.
