Description

[edit]

The description of this image, as well as the caption used with it in the Accessory bone Wikipedia article, is misleading and technically incorrect if I'm not mistaken. "X-ray of the left wrist, with accessory bones colored by their prevalences" implies that these bones actually exist in this x-ray.

Assuming they do not, a more correct and less misleading description would be "X-ray of the left wrist, colored to show where accessory bones would be, colored by their prevalences" or some such. It's also unclear to me whether these colored spots are meant to show the general location of these bones or to be actual illustrations of the bones (i.e. are the spots meant to be the exact shape of an example of such a bone.)

If I'm mistaken in thinking that these accessory bones do not actually occur in this x-ray, then perhaps the colored labels obscure these bones.--209.6.206.81 18:35, 21 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback! I've specified the description. Mikael Häggström (talk) 15:40, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
