All of the uses of the coat of arms are official, it is protected under the Austrian constitution (Artikel 8a.[1]). The coat of arms can be affixed only as provided by law. BGBl Nr. 174/1981 prohibits violation of use under threat of fine of not more than öS 50,000 (Bundesgesetzblatt 1984). The depiction of the coat of arms for encyclopedic purposes is allowed. Emblem?

At least in German, it's definitely known as Wappen, which translates to "coat of arms". —Nightstallion (?) 06:13, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
