A very useful map!
But some island states have problematic locations. For example, why are Niue (~170W), the Samoas (~171W), Tokelau (~172W), and Tonga (~175W) depicted in the eastern hemisphere?
Some islands in the eastern Caribbean are also a challenge to identify without using the xml editor (not available unless editing the file in, say, Inkscape). I appreciate the crowding vs. size of "microstate spot" tradeoff. But, again, it's difficult to identify some Caribbean states on the map without having the xml file open, even with another map of the Caribbean in hand.
In any case, a very helpful contribution!
Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom. Might wanna fix this 80.200.87.35 20:28, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Questions about the SVG code
[edit]It's broken
[edit]I tried to update the map, File:Amateur-radio-regions-with-60m-allocation.svg, using latest revision of this map, and I found country shading no longer works. Even downloading a blank copy then removing the comments from the internal examples fails to do anything. Testing backwards, the last working version was uploaded on 14:40, 6 February 2013, so something happened to the shading mechanism after that point. I don't know enough about SVGs to fix this though.
- The current copy of File:BlankMap-World6.svg works as expected.
Hover-over
[edit]I see that being able to hover over the image and see country names is supposed to work. How does one see this in action? Nothing happens when I put my cursor over the image. Zkidwiki (talk) 21:17, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Zkidwiki: if you click on the svg file itself (so that the image file itself is what's displayed in your browser), then this works as expected. It's not expected to work with the image while it's embedded in the description page. Cherkash (talk) 22:17, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
Displaying all hidden circles
[edit]@Giorgi Balakhadze: You've insisted on changes to this image several times, so I feel this discussion is overdue. The main reason I kept reverting your changes, is that the main and only meaningful use of this image is on this Talk page. Thus, this image is a technical illustration of the hidden capabilities of the blank map from which it is derived. There is no other meaningful usage across all the wikis, and in fact this is the original use and intention for this file. If you feel like you need a world map with specific territories either hidden or highlighted, you are always free to create copies/derivatives of this file's original (i.e. of the File:BlankMap-World.svg) – the SVG code is written to be flexible enough to support any customization you want. - I don't need any version of the map personally, I just insisted to follow rule, not to overwrite and not to cause mislead. Commons is a huge database and everything must have its name and place, following the rules.--Ⴂ. ႡႠႪႠႾႠႻႤ★ 17:58, 8 May 2019 (UTC)
