wrong marshalling

Hi !

I have seen some manuscripts in a recent exhibition which suggest that these arms never existed as such. All the representations are like this one. The shield, almost always accompanied with another of France modern, bears 1/4 France Ancient and 2/3 Jerusalem. In fact, I have found only one occurence of the quarterly arms alone : on the grand seal of Charles as king of Naples (used during the year 1495, when he was in this city). I would therefore think that these quarterly arms are his arms as king of Naples. This would explain why they were always surrounded by the order of the crescent (chivalric order created by René d'Anjou, titular king of Naples) on the figurations I have seen.
