unofficial

[edit]

This if not a joke it is certainly an invention. Not only because the only official symbols of the EU are the flag, the anthem, the 9th of May and its motto "in varietate concordia", but also because the alleged "order of appearance of each country's coat of arms is defined by listing all countries names alphabetically in the language of the referred country" is not real: Hungary should be before Malta (Magyar), Sweden should be last (Sverige), and certainly not before Slovakia or Slovenia (Slovensko and Slovenija), Eireland (Eire) should be before Estonia, and so on... This should not be put on European Union pages, as it is already happening, in the Latin wiki at least. --Xaverius (talk) 22:15, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the discription clearly states that this coat of arms is not adopted. Though if one would seek to argue in favour of it, then you could say that there's clear precedent for the use of this specific design considering the history of unions in Europe. - Ssolbergj (talk) 22:20, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

possible alternative

[edit]

Could do it similarly to how it's done in File:Blason_Joachim_Murat_Roi_de_Naples_(Grandes_Armes).svg ... AnonMoos (talk) 17:40, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hah, yes well that's true but perhaps the number of EU member states (27) is a bit much for that solution? - Ssolbergj (talk) 22:20, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

United Kingdom

[edit]

I'm not sure how "United Kingdom" goes between "France" and "Hellas" alphabetically. I'm sure you're just using another of the UK's myriad names, but care to enlighten me? 67.176.12.54 05:42, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"G" of "Great Britain" I would presume... AnonMoos (talk) 09:13, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Czech Republic CoAs

[edit]

One question, if the British, Latvian and Spanish coats of arms are complete, why is the Czech so reduced? --Avenflight (talk) 20:17, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Czech Republic CoAs

[edit]

The state Coat of Arms of the Czech Republic contains the Coat of Arms of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. So, where is Moravia and Silesia expressed in the SVG file?--Pavel Fric (talk) 15:16, 6 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

National coats-of-arms versus non-heraldic national flags and emblems

[edit]

Those of Slovenia, France (the French Republic), the Republic of Malta, Italy (the Italian Republic), the Republic of Cyprus and Austria are not actually national coats-of-arms; rather, they are either non-heraldic national flags, in the case of Italy, Austria and of Malta, or, they are non-heraldic national emblems. -- Urquhartnite (talk) 08:34, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

French republic doesn't have official CoA. yet, you can see tierced (either per pale or per bend) azure (sometimes so dark you'd rather think it's sable), argent, gules, with or without "RF" gold overall, on many townhalls across the country. 2A01:E0A:984:A320:34A9:E25C:C8E8:5246 08:32, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
