This photo titled "A Cyprian maid" was taken by J. Thomson and was published in his book " Through Cyprus with the camera in the autumn of 1878", London 1879. Nowhere in his book does J. Thomson state or claim that this woman is Turkish Cypriot nor that she is muslim. To make such a claim and publish it on wikipedia is a distortion and a false claim. As a matter of fact looking at this woman's attire it is evident that she is a peasant Greek Cypriot and not a Turkish Cypriot woman because Turkish Cypriot women of that period did not dress this way, usually covering their face and body with a white chador.
