- the cros on the keys appear more closed

@TheFlagandAnthemGuy: there was a similar discussion about the coat of arms of the Vatican here.

As @Goran tek-en: has said in this above-mentioned discussion: his work is an interpretation of the model, so his version will not be a 1 to 1 recreation. This being said, I think you are right on the fact the internal motifs on the keys' bows should be made to be perpendicular to the flag's border.
