Legermuseum

[edit]

The Legermuseum in Delft doesn't exist anymore. A new Dutch military museum was built in Soest (see nmm.nl/en) near Utrecht and the Delft site closed in 2013. The name of the new museum holding the painting is Nationaal Militair Museum.

Details about this painting are here, with the English text headed by 'A vain marshall'. However, the Dutch text is much more extensive and translating it into English may be rewarding. It also mentions the Black servant who cleverly mirrors the protagonist's figure, while holding Dumonceau's blue-plumed bonnet. Glatisant (talk) 05:43, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
