Bayinnang probably did not extend his influence down the Tenasserim coast

[edit]

Lieberman and Baker-Phongpaichit neither wrote that Bayinnang extended his influence over the southern coast down to the Northern Malay states, even Baker-Phongpaichit states that Ayutthaya, once it was free of Burmese vassalage after 1584, didn't reestablish their presence down south until the 17th century, meaning that the Muslim Malay states and Nakhon Si Thammarat were probably independent during this period.
