This icon looks like we are trying to ban something, can we think of something more positive? How about the letters 'PD' in a circle? edward 13:00, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The original design was "PD" in a box, but apperently this is something bad in french, so it changed. Also this icon is used for things like {{CopyrightedFreeUse}}, which is technically not the same as PD. -- Duesentrieb(?!) 23:10, 26 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We are banning!

[edit]

This logo shows exactly what it should, the banning of copyright! Therefore, it works as intended.

Not exactally. Since it is in public domain we can copyright it.--Mac Wanter Talk 16:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Haha!

[edit]

I love how the non-copyright picture is shown as a non-copyright itself with its own picture! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.65.134.129 (talk • contribs) 23:16, 21 Jan 2007 (UTC)

New version

[edit]

Would anyone object to me changing this to Image:PD-icon2.svg. It always bothered me that this "C" never match all the other "C"s. I also fixed the dimensions. It's a pretty trivial change, but this is like the most used image. Rocket000(talk) 11:45, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm perfectly ok with that. guillom 07:05, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

doctype

[edit]

please add a doctype... http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/PD-icon.svg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.78.113.186 (talk • contribs) 16:26, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SVG specification does not require a doctype, nor does SVG Tiny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.68.210.8 (talk • contribs) 12:16, 28 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transparency

[edit]

{{Edit protected}}

The middle should be transparent as well, like many other copyright (C) tags. Int21h (talk) 09:20, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Of the primary icons listed at Category:Symbols of Copyright-Copyleft, only File:Copyleft.svg and File:Copyright.svg have transparent centers. I would suggest asking at the Village Pump to garner a consensus either for or against transparency, and then making all of the primary icons the same. Replace by CC public domain mark ?

[edit]

Hi, as we have now an CC "offical" PD mark (en:Public domain mark) should we not better use this one? also big databases as en:Europeana use it. Shaddim (talk) 19:05, 16 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
