File talk:Royal Standard of England (1411-1553-1559-1603).svg
THIS Image Should be RENAMED to Royal Standard of France and England (1406-1340). As the Royal Standard of France is in the Canton over the Royal Standard of England. Mr Taz (talk) 23:13, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually no, it was only used by english kings that had claims to the crown of france, but it was never used by the french kings themselves. --93.172.111.26 15:21, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
The dates for this are wrong
[edit]I recently uploaded another File:Royal Standard of England and France (1340-1411).jpg of this standard not realizing this version was uploaded earlier which is a better copy. However the dates assigned for it are incorrect according to the source I used to create my version. My image was based upon the descriptions and an image given on p. 74 in the book British flags, their early history, and their development at sea; with an account of the origin of the flag as a national device by Perrin, W. G. (William Gordon), 1874-1931 published in 1922, Chapter IV Flags of Command pp. 73-109. Perrin states Edward III proclaimed himself King of France in 1340 and adopted the File:Arms of the Kingdom of France (Ancien).svg (auzure semi-of-fleur-de-lis) then merged it with the flag of England (side by side) to create this Royal Standard. In 1411 Henry IV reduced the fleur-de-lis to three to create this Royal Standard File:Royal Standard of England (1406-1603).svg in which case the date for that is also wrong it should be 1411 to 1553 and again 1559 to 1603.--Navops47 (talk) 09:59, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
- To the administrator who actions my request firstly apologies to clarify this file should be renamed Royal Standard of England (1340-1410) and this File:Royal Standard of England (1406-1603).svg also needs changing to say File:Royal Standard of England (1411-1553, 1559-1603). Queen Mary I had a different Royal Standard of England emphasizing her union in marriage with Philip II of Spain which I designed today here File:Royal Standard of England (1554-1558).jpg thanks.--Navops47 (talk) 10:22, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
