File talk:Shackleton Endurance Aurora map.svg
Here we have a map of an expedition that started on the Ross ice shelf and crossed over to the other ice shelf. Why did they see an Aurora at the South Pole? Because there is no ice or land at the exact South Pole, it is open air where the inner sun of our planet shines out and the reflection of this light on the clouds and outer Earth atmosphere is what we call the aurora. As the Earth warms and more ice melts we will see more lights- auroras at the poles. Land all over the globe is divided into hectares, acres etc. by measuring straight lines into squares and rectangles. Why here do we divide the land into pie shapes with all countries being able to go into the center? The Norwegian claim is the most accurate and acknowledges the open air space at the center of the pole
