Belarus and Ukraine
[edit]Belarus moved to UTC+3 all the year. Corazon1 (talk) 13:51, 17 September 2011 (UTC)
And Ukraine has already done the same.--D.M. from Ukraine (talk) 20:39, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
18 October 2011 Ukraine has already cancel this "change". Please undo map change to http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/a/ad/20111018173852%21Standard_time_zones_of_the_world.png
Channel Islands
[edit]The Channel Islands are missing from the map and the red line makes it look like they'd have the same time zone as France. They should be represented like the other islands in the map. Cheers. Delusion23 (talk) 19:44, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Very good. Then tell me what the time zone of the Channel Islands, to modify the map. Thank you very much. Fonadier (talk) 23:59, 8 October 2011 (UTC)- Done Fonadier (talk) 01:33, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Convert to SVG
[edit]Graphist at the illustration workshop here. I'm not sure why this had convert to SVG tagged. The source file is of extremely high resolution, and this being a document that is constantly in need of updates, moving it to a vector form would greatly reduce the number of people who can work with the image, and make the updates more sluggish. I have thus removed the tag from this page. Jon C (talk) 03:47, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I for one would like to have an SVG version maintained as the "most current" map. The benefits of SVG are well known and SVG editing tools are freely available, and it's actually much easier to change text or color for a small correction to the map. Also, as you can see from the history and the Talk page, this picture is already moderated and protected so the "number of people who can update the image" argument doesn't really make sense.
The latest SVG I could find on Category:Maps of World time zones is from 2012, back-created from this PNG apparently (File:Standard time zones of the world (2012).svg). I really think that is backwards and the SVG should be leading. Anyway, keeping maps in SVG is standard "best practice" around here so I really don't see why this map would be an exception.
Please reconsider. --Endorf (talk) 21:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Taiwan
[edit]This is amusing that the Kuril Islands are shown as disputable whereas Taiwan is just shown as a part of PRC without any further notice.--Ymblanter (talk) 10:19, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Kurils have different time zone then Japan which claimed them. And Taiwan has the same timezone as PRC, so we should not notice it.--Anatoliy (talk) 10:25, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- There is a difference actually. In case of Kurils islands are claimed by two sovereign recognized states. In the other case we have claims by existent and de-jure non-existent governments. Artem Karimov (talk) 08:09, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Kosovo
[edit]Artem Karimov (talk · contributions · Move log · block log · uploads · Abuse filter log)
On top of previously mentioned problems, now he engaged himself into edit warring: File:Standard time zones of the world.png.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:39, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- Protected for one week. Discussion is to occur on the talk page. Use {{Editprotected}} to request changes before expiration of protection. russavia (talk) 19:43, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. May be at some point he will realize that if everybody tells him that black is black and he is the only one to insist that black is white, than smth might be wrong, but protection as a temporary decision is fine.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:48, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- It is more important that all involved understand that slow-revert wars on files such as this are disruptive not only to Commons, but also to other projects which are using the image. Is it imperative that all parties discuss the issues on the talk page of the file concerned. There is nothing more really to say in this matter from where I am sitting. russavia (talk) 22:33, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- Funny. No exceptions for Kosovo. All separatist movements or none. That simple. Artem Karimov (talk) 23:04, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- By the way, nice monitoring of my contribs. Waste your time more. :) Artem Karimov (talk) 23:05, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
- That doesn't make any sense. Would you really exclude the United States from the map? At a certain point a separatist movement becomes a legitimate nation. Kosovo has achieved at least some of the markers of being a legitimate nation, and therefore it's not being exceptional to list it as one.--Prosfilaes (talk) 10:17, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- In that case Abkhazia and South Ossetia should be included as well. Along with Trasnistria and Northern Cyprus. They are all de-facto states. Artem Karimov (talk) 17:58, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. May be at some point he will realize that if everybody tells him that black is black and he is the only one to insist that black is white, than smth might be wrong, but protection as a temporary decision is fine.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:48, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Wallis and Futuna
[edit]The territory of Wallis and Futuna in the Pacific Ocean, is a territory of the French Republic; not the Realm of New Zealand as it incorrectly states. I advise that you change it accordingly. GBozanko (talk) 16:17, 6 June 2012 (UTC) {{editprotected}}
- Not done There is nothing a sysop can do here. If you create a modified version, upload it and ask for a replace. Or, ask somebody (maybe the original uploader of this file) to create the modified version. {{Editprotected}} is not going to help with that. --Mormegil (talk) 09:43, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- I corrected Wallis and Futuna (was stated as part of New Zealand, should be France), Mayotte (was marked in Seychelles, should be to the southeast of Comoros), Pitcairn Islands (was marked in UTC–09, should be UTC–08) and Tokelau (was marked in UTC+14, should be UTC+13). Since the map is protected, I uploaded a new file and request an update, please. Heitordp (talk) 04:01, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- {{Editprotected}}
- I noticed the above modification by Heitordp months ago which would correct the current protected version, regarding the actual timezone of some island countries and territories. Please help to move that to here, and then allow someone else to serve the request below for Libya. Peterwhy (talk) 10:11, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- Done, file updated with File:Standard time zones of the world (2012).png; I also changed the time zone for Libya from UTC+2 to UTC+1 per the comment below. odder (talk) 23:13, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Libya
[edit]http://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/libya-time-zone-change-2012.html Libya changed time zone to UTC+1. Corazon1 (talk) 10:29, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Please update Libya to UTC+1. Corazon1 (talk) 20:40, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
- Done, thanks for helping! odder (talk) 23:13, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the change, odder, but unfortunately, in October Libya abruptly canceled the changeover and switched the country permanently to UTC+2. Libya should be moved back to UTC+2 on this and in the SVG. —MillingMachine (talk) 15:06, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- @MillingMachine: I reverted my change, so Libya is now visible as being in UTC+2 in this file. I am unsure how to update the SVG, so I'll leave it to others (I have never edited that file anyway). odder (talk) 17:31, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
Ittoqqortoormiit
[edit]Ittoqqortoormiit (east of Greenland) has a figure "1" (UTC+01) in it but is colored as UTC-01. The latter is correct according to WP articles (dk, de, en).--Rainald62 (talk) 20:52, 31 March 2013 (UTC) Sorry. Scrolling to the left showed that all figures are lacking a sign. I suggest to add the minus sign to Ittoqqortoormiit and the plus sign to the zone UTC+14, which is the only positive value at the left border of the map.--Rainald62 (talk) 21:09, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
Acre, Brazil
[edit]The state of Acre and the western part of the state of Amazonas, Brazil, are since november 2013 are UTC-5. Dantadd✉ 01:35, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
