Copyright Clarification
[edit]I have sent an email to the museum, attempting to clarify the copyright in the use of this image. I am awaiting a response. Will 19:07, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
I have not received a response yet to my email. The copyright page was very specific on where to ask; and yet, no one has answered. Any ideas? Will 12:51, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
I have received the following response:
Dear Mr. Dunn,
Thank you for contacting the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Your email was forwarded to me in the Photo Archives. I am responsible for handling permission requests for the photographs in the Museum's collection. The photograph that you included in your email is in the public domain and is available for use. They should be created [sic, probably indended credited] to the National Archives and Records Administration. However, this is not true for all photographs in our collection and we ask that you please contact us for permission to use photographs in our collection. We will need to know the specific photographs that you are interested in using on your website. We will then review the copyright status and provide you with a permission form to fill out or directly to the copyright holder. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Sincerely, Maren Read Ms. Maren L. Read |
As a result, the image will be listed as "in the public domain", using PD-release. Will 17:43, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
