Description
English: This is usually the kind of painting we associate with Vilhelm Hammershøi; pictures of sparsely furnished rooms. Occasionally, a woman reading or simply being in the room, often with her back turned. The artist conjures up a charged atmosphere using small means – light, shadow, space, walls and doorways. Even if the painting actually depicts the artist’s home, the rooms have a timeless character. A place for memories and imagination.
