Description

Hands forward, step by step, Tobit struck by blindness tries to find his way. Accidentally he has knocked over a chair. A spinning wheel is falling. Broken pottery is scattered on the floor. In this painting Cuyp shows the frailty of the old man. The detailed rendering of his head and his wrinkly hands make him very human en recognisable.
