English: This miniature on ivory was painted by Nicolas-Jean Otthenin, after a painting on a porcelain plaque by Étienne-Charles Le Guay, first husband of the sitter Marie Victoire Jaquotot and himself a very successful painter. Signed 'Nas. Otthenin.' (lower left), no date.
Otthenin also painted an oval version, signed and dated 1817, which was in the D. David-Weill collection (Paris, inv. no. 377) and was sold from the collection of Sir Charles Clore by Sotheby's (London) on November 10, 1986 (lot 43). (see source.) Français : Cette miniature sur ivoire a été peinte par Nicolas-Jean Otthenin, d'après une peinture sur plaque de porcelaine par Étienne-Charles Le Guay, premier époux de Marie-Victoire Jaquotot (voir A. Lajoix, Marie-Victoire Jaquotot 1772-1855. Peintre sur porcelaine, Paris, 1992, illustrated p. 22). Signé 'Nas. Otthenin.' (en ba sà gauche), pas de date. Otthenin a aussi peint une version ovale, signée et datée 1817, qui a fait partie de la collection de D.
