| Description |
Nederlands: Amfoor van aardewerk, met inscriptie, waarin olijfolie uit Spanje werd vervoerd. De hals en de oren van de amfoor zijn ervan gehaald, zodat de amfoor secundair gebruikt kan zijn als ondergronds voorraadvat, als waterreservoir of als verzamelbak voor menselijke urine. Op de schouder van de amfoor is een scriptie aangebracht: S II X T I B A S I II Q, waarbij we het teken II als `E’ moeten lezen. Voluit zou er hebben gestaan: Sexti Basi equitis: `(eigendom) van de ruiter Sextius Basus’. Deze Basus (of Bassus) was dus ruiter in het leger. De amfoor is gevonden in het kampdorp van de legerplaats van het Tiende Legioen in Nijmegen, achter het voormalige Canisius College, en dateert uit het einde van de 1ste-begin van de 2de eeuw.
