Description
English: After having established his career as a landscape artist in Sweden, Carl Fredrik Hill went to France. Travelling to various places in northern France, he soon developed his own individual style of painting. This Seine landscape is a typical example of how he was influenced by the French artist Camille Corot, especially with regard to brushwork and ideas on composition, while distancing himself from the sentimental mood that often dominates Corot’s paintings.
