Call for feedback on Welcome to Wikipedia brochure

(Please excuse cross-posting) Over the next few months, I will be overhauling the Welcome to Wikipedia brochure to better reflect what new editors need to know when learning how to contribute to Wikipedia. I'm hoping to get a wide variety of feedback on what people like and do not like about the current brochure so I can create a new version that reflects the best knowledge we collectively have about outreach to newbies. Keep the files separate? And, what about source graphics?

The new brochure looks fantastic! Two thoughts (and especially looking for input from user:Sage Ross (WMF) and/or user:Ldavis (WMF)):

  1. It seems to me we'd do better to create a new file (for instance, File:Editing Wikipedia Brochure EN (2013).pdf) so that the old one can remain, as a clear artifact of what was actually a very different publication. Any objections to changing this title and reverting the old file? (I realize some care would be needed due to the large number of pages that link to this file.)
  2. Are the various source graphics available for upload to Commons? It would be nice to create an online version of this on Wikisource, and to do a high quality version of that would require access to the original screen shots etc. -Pete F (talk) 22:54, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pete, thanks for the good feedback. I don't mind if you create a new file with the old version, but because of all the links to this brochure everywhere, I wanted to make sure anywhere we give new users advice about editing Wikipedia points to this brochure instead. Honestly, I'm not sure there's significant need for the old brochure because it's so outdated at this point, but if you'd like to create a new File:Welcome to Wikipedia (2010 version).pdf or something, that's fine with me. Hey Pete! I actually already uploaded the graphics individually as well; I just added a link to the category that holds them to the description. (They are also linked inline in the on-wiki translatable version of the text.) The ones in the InDesign source have been converted to CYMK, so they actually won't look very good on screens. (Some of the originals I uploaded will need to be cropped to match their usage in the brochure.) I have 'look into Wikisource as a place to build a nicely-formatted on-wiki version' on my todo list, but it's not very close to the top and not something I know much about yet.--Sage Ross (WMF) (talk) 01:44, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. @LiAnna, that seems like a reasonable way to do it. I'll take a crack at it when I have the mental bandwidth to do it right (i.e., not now). @Sage, how about these for a start?

Sage, I've been working on it. The high-res screen shots are great! But are the user photos all collected in one place? I'm sure I could track them down if needed, but it would help if you could point me to a category or something.
